New Super Mario Bros. U

New Super Mario Bros. U. is definitely nothing new. About six years ago, when Nintendo released New Super Mario Bros. on the DS, the first new 2D Mario game for 15 years, it was exciting to have a new, fresh take on Mario's platforming classics. Is it still as exciting now? Probably not. Is it still fun? Absolutely.

Especially when five people are playing - one on the GamePad placing platforms and all the others jumping around the level. The GamePad player just needs to tap on the screen to make a platform appear and depending on how devious he or she is, they just might have fun making life as difficult for you as possible, by placing blocks to block off pipes, or even trapping you inside the platforms with the hardest enemy in the game. The GamePad players can also help greatly and put a platform right under a Big Sparkly Gold Coin (Returning from the other games).

The levels look amazing though, especially on the last stage in the demo. The visuals on this stage literally shine, with the platforms being massive stars and the background showing space in its most beautiful form.

But the gameplay is still pretty old, with the exception of new power-ups and the GamePad. It probably won't not make the greatest game of all time, but could still be pretty good. We can't wait until we get another hands-on experience.
